Discover one of the Mediterranean region’s most unique olives!
The Galano olive is native to the southern part of the Chalkidiki Peninsula, around Metaggitsio, and its cultivation dates back centuries. The Mediterranean climate, warm summers, mild winters, and limestone, well-drained soils provide an ideal environment for the olive. The Galano’s large, fleshy fruit has a light green color, making it attractive not only for table consumption but also an excellent raw material for oil production.
Olive oil obtained from the Galano olive preserves its freshness and vibrant green color thanks to cold pressing, as well as its high oleic acid and antioxidant content. From a sensory perspective, it is typically medium-fruity, slightly pungent, and low in bitterness, offering a harmonious and smooth character. Local producers ensure the traditional and consistent quality of Galano olive oil, making it not only a favorite ingredient in Greek kitchens but also increasingly recognized internationally.
